There’s so much to do and see there even beyond the caves, but I get that caves aren’t for everyone. (Not to mention the amazing natural AC)

Comment on 15 MUST-SEE Historic Sites In Virginia (Expert Guide + Photos) by Andy Kaloz https://morethanjustparks.com/historic-sites-in-virginia/#comment-12043 Tue, 11 Feb 2025 20:45:53 +0000 https://morethanjustparks.com/?p=34063#comment-12043 I enjoyed this article while browsing the web for an itinerary for 14 days (or more) in Virginia this fall. We have spent the last 10 years trying to explore all the National Parks, Monuments and Historic Sites in the US. We are just beginning our North-East part of the Country. If you have any Itinerary for Virginia, we would appreciate it. We travel in a 20″ RV .
Thanks

I quite enjoy this park and while it's small I don't think that should disqualify it from National Park status. I agree with your ranking of Gateway Arch though. I think there should be a large "natural" component to be elevated to NP status. Also sad to see Cuyahoga Valley way at the bottom! Spent a good few days there back in high school and was one of my favorite trips. The train and biking were hits, as well as the waterfalls. Even though I disagree (heartily) with a couple of the rankings, I appreciate you making this list and bringing attention to the National Parks. And for explaining the difference between NP and other NPS units, which people often get confused about.]]> As an Indiana resident, it saddens me to see Indiana Dunes at the VERY bottom of the list. 😢 Very sad. Comment on Is Precipice Trail in Acadia REALLY That Dangerous? (Honest Guide) by J.R. Libby https://morethanjustparks.com/precipice-trail-hike-acadia-national-park/#comment-11713 Wed, 15 Jan 2025 18:47:11 +0000 https://morethanjustparks.com/?p=74604#comment-11713 Nice article. The website DEATHS IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK lists the majority of deaths in Acadia and the most dangerous place is not the Precipice, the Beehive or any other mountain in Acadia National park, the most dangerous place is down along the rocky shoreline where people encounter what is known as a rogue wave, which are pretty common. In a heartbeat a rogue wave can sweep you off the rocks and out to sea. For this reason I would list death by drowning as the number one killer in Acadia National Park…now who would of thought that would be the case…

Don Ingrahm you are wrong. The USS Constitution is NOT a National Monument.
